Becoming a parent is exciting and often overwhelming. Whether you have come into this role through birth, adoption, or are moving through the process of fertility treatments, my role is to support you on your journey into parenthood. My goal is to create a safe and judgement-free environment for you to explore your experiences where they will be met with empathy and understanding.
Before coming to counselling I studied theatre, acquiring both a BA and MA. I like to say that I have always been examining the human experience, just through a different lens. I am currently completing my MA in Counselling Psychology at Yorkville University. I prefer to use an integrative relational approach, pulling from several different theories and frameworks such as Adlerian, Gestalt, and Narrative Therapy to find what works best for each client. I believe in the importance of self-care and know that it can be difficult to find time for oneself as a new parent. Together, we will work together to find the right tools that work for you.
I am committed to diversity, inclusion, and social justice. I look forward to working with new and prospective parents of all identities.
Welcoming a new baby can be both rewarding and challenging, no matter how experienced you are as a parent. If you are feeling overwhelmed, sad, or “just not yourself”, you may be experiencing the effects of a postpartum mood disorder (depression, anxiety, OCD, etc.). Many individuals suffer in silence, worried that their issues are not “big enough”. I am here to assure you that there is no minimum threshold to meet before you reach out. As a mother of three, I know we can all use a bit more help and support at times. My role is to help you through this new journey.
I am a master’s student in counselling psychology and have undergone specialized training in perinatal mental health and birth trauma, as well as grief and loss. I believe in an open, respectful, non-judgemental therapeutic space. I use techniques from a number of modalities (Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Theory, Strength-Base Therapy, etc.). Together, we will find what works best for you.
